Bánffy Castle From Rascruci Bonţida

Rascruci locality was the property of Bánffy family, being a part of the estate from Bontida. The castle was built in neoclassical eclectic style, being surrounded by a wide-spread park, the estate being used as summer residence of Banffy family. The access to the castle Pavilion, built by count Dionisie Banffy, is made by two staircases from the Southern part which lead to a terrace supported by eight Doric columns. After the events from 1848, the property is damaged, Adám Bánffy being the one who rebuilds it, dealing also with the interior design.

The saloon, built in Renaissance style, has the walls covered with wood and wood coffered ceiling. Above one door is sculpted the Latin inscription “Salus intratibus pax exeuntibus” (“Health to those who get in, peace to those who get out”). The access to the floor is made through a staircase with sturdy wood balustrade and from the castle balcony can be seen the entire Banffy estate.

In the present the castle is under the administration of Cluj County Council, with the possibility to be visited on request.
