Wass Castle From Taga Ţaga

In the 15th century, Taga area enters in the possession of Wass family who builds two castles in the locality, nowadays being preserved only that known as Small Castle. This is consolidated by Samuel Wass (1754-1812) who decides to place two artesian wells in the yard of the property. The castle is restored by Adam Wass (1821-1893), who also has the initiative to cover with wood the roads from the area.

Wass Castle is also known as the “castle in white and black”, it had a rectangular shape, four pavilions and two square towers. Today only the main building is left, built in Baroque-Transylvanian style, with basement, ground floor and framework. The funerary crypts of the family, as they are mentioned in the family archive in 1776, are found near the castle. The castle is a private property and can be visited on request.
