Presentation - Stiucii (Pike) Lake Fizesu Gherlii

Pike Lake is a protected area of national interest, situated in the Fizesu Gherlii commune, village Sacalaia. The pike, dominant fish species of the lake, gave this name to the reserve. The reserve has an area of approximately 57 ha being present also reedbeds areas. This environment has fostered the development of a biodiversity of flora and fauna almost similar as number of species with the one from the Danube Delta.

This is a freshwater lake located on salty soil substrate, where we find fisheries species of predators such as the pike, zander or catfish, species such as carp and crucian or birds from species such as coot, bunting , gray heron, etc.
