Protestant Church Miercurea Nirajului (Sereda)

The Gothic and Romanesque church of the little village is almost eight centuries old. The sanctuary of the towerless church closes with three sides of an octagon. In the 18th century the old ceiling of the nave was replaced by a wooden boarded ceiling. On one of the coffers the 90th Psalm is quoted in Hebrew. The crypt below the nave is not open; it has been walled-up for many years. The wooden bell-tower, which stands near the western end of the church, was built in the 17th century. According to word of mouth, in the middle of the 17th century the bell steeple toppled over and fell into the swamp below the church.
