The Speleological Natural Reserve "the Big Cave From Firei Valley" Ic Ponor

The Big Cave from the Fire valley is located at an altitude of over 1000 metres, it is the second longest cave of Romania. It was discovered in 1984 and consists of two facilities, superior-fossil and inferior active, floors which are located at distances ranging from 30-50 m one under another. The level difference is of - 314 m, containing almost all karst phenomena known so far. It consists of a system of halls and galleries, four of them being the biggest cave halls discovered so far in Romania – the Giants Hall, volume of 2.8 million cubic meters, the second in Europe, Gabor Hallasi Hall - 1 300 000 cubic meters, the Dance Hall - 480,000 cubic meters and Dan Coman Hall - 410 000 cubic metres. 

In the active gallery is located the longest underground river in Romania, on certain passages the distance between the water and the ceiling is about 20-30 cm.
