Presentation - Statue Of Avram Iancu Cluj-Napoca

Avram Iancu (1824-1872) was the leader of the Romanian revolution from 1848 from Transylvania, managing to withstand the attacks of Lajos Kossuth, the leader of the Hungarian revolutionary troops.

In 1995 the work of sculptor Ilie Berindei, representing Avram Iancu, was placed in the space between the Orthodox Church and the building of the National Theatre and Romanian Opera from Cluj. The statue is made of bronze, built in the middle of an artesian well, on a pedestal of stone blocks. These blocks are supported on an assembly of three alpenhorn female players, women from Apuseni Mountains who used a popular instrument to create the communication between communities.
