Ghelinta

GELENCE is a commune in Covasna County, Romania. It is composed of two villages, Ghelinţa and Harale (Haraly).

It formed part of the Székely Land, ethno-cultural region of the historical Transylvania province.

The commune has an absolute Székely Hungarian majority. According to the 2002 Census it has a population of 4,774 of which 98.49% or 4,702 are Székely Hungarian.

The St. Emeric Catholic Church with its murals from the 13th century is the main tourist attraction of the village.

HARALY

The village lies 3 km of Gelence and is famous for the activity of their coopers.

The medieval Roman Catholic church standing on its own in the northern part of the settlement is the first building that draws the visitors` attention who arrive in the village. The stone frameworks of the Gothic entrance as well as the entrance of the sacristy were opened up by the earthquake in 1977. In the compartment situated above the southern entrance one can see the stone statue of the patron saint of the church: Saint John of Nepomuk. In the western part of the peak there is a Hussar tower. The bell tower made of stone is located in the centre of the settlement.

From an architectural point of view the Fejér Mansion dating back to the 19^th century is worth to be mentioned.
