Presentation - Fortified Evangelical Church Cata

Construită în sec. al XIII-lea ca bazilică în stil romanic, Biserica evanghelică fortificată din Caţa purta hramul Sfîntului Nicolae. Interesant este faptul că cetatea are nu unul, ci două rânduri de incinte poligonale fortificate, una din sec. XV şi cealaltă din sec. XVII. De asemenea, altarul din 1813 este folosit până în ziua de azi. Biserica-cetate din Caţa încă mai păstrează intact aşa numitul Turn al Slăninei în care locuitorii îşi păstrau slănina pentru ca pe timp de asediu îndelungat să poată supravieţui în interiorul cetăţii.
