Presentation - The Museum Of Art Brasov
The Museum of Art
The Museum of Art of Brasov, lodged in a building belonging to the Secession style, accomplished after M. Wagner’s project in 1902, shelters in the halls at the first-floor a National Gallery that reunites works belonging to the most valuable Romanian artists. The exhibition illustrates the evolution of the Romanian art, from the anonymous Transylvanian artists of the 17th and 18th centuries to the creations of some contemporary artists.
The “Nicolae Grigorescu” Collection is remarkable for its value. It ranks 2nd largest in the country in point of size. In the basement of the museum the Oriental and European Decorative Art Exhibition presents the visitors porcelain and glassware made in the far-famed manufactures of Meissen, Delft, Sevres, Capo di Monte, Murano and some workshops in Romania.
